Staff
Accountants must have a college degree with a major in
accounting. They should plan on passing the CPA exam as soon as
possible. The estimated time range to be in this classification is one
to three years.
Senior
Accountants must be Certified Public Accountants in good
standing with the State Board of Accountants and have a minimum of
three years public accounting experience as a staff accountant. The
estimated time range to be in this classification is two to three years.
Supervisors
must be Certified Public Accountants in good standing with the State
Board of Accountants and have a minimum of five years combined public
accounting experience as a staff accountant and senior accountant. The
estimated time range to be in this classification is two to five years.
The
Firm compensates all full-time employees that have completed twelve
months of continuous service when they become totally disabled due to
illness or an accident. The benefit amount is based on salary and the
employee’s classification.
Marketing
Bonus - You will receive a marketing bonus for clients
that you bring to the Firm. The bonus may be up to 20% of the first of
the first three years fees to the client. The bonus is paid after the
fees are collected.
Managers
must be Certified Public Accountants in good standing with the State
Board of Accountants and have a minimum of seven years combined public
accounting experience as a staff accountant, senior accountant and
supervisor. The estimated time range to be in this classification is
two to five years.
- The
staff accountant who passes all parts of the CPA Exam in one sitting of
the first two eligible sittings shall receive a $1,000 cash bonus.
- The
staff accountant who passes all parts of the CPA Exam in two sittings
of the first three eligible sittings shall receive a $500 cash bonus.
Employees
(20.5 years of age and older) are eligible to participate in the Plan
on January 1st, or July 1st after completing six months of continuous
service. The Firm currently matches 3% of the employee’s
contribution. The Plan offers a choice of twenty funds from aggressive
to very conservative to invest in.
Para-professionals
must have a good understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, or tax
preparation. They usually graduate from a technical/vocational school
with a concentration in accounting or tax courses, or have over five
years experience as a full charge bookkeeper in private industry.
Health
Insurance – The Firm offers Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Alabama to its employees. The Firm pays for the
employee’s coverage and the employee’s that request
dependents coverage shall pay 100% of the dependents premium.
Cafeteria Plan
- Premium
Only Provision Plan which provides for pre-tax deductions for
L&L group health premiums that the employee is responsible for
paying.
- Medical
Reimbursement Plan which provides for pre-tax deductions (up to $5,000
per year) for un-reimbursed medical expenses that the employee declares
at the beginning of the Plan Year.
- Dependent
Care Plan which provides for pre-tax deductions for dependent day care
expenses (up to $5,000) that the employee declares at the beginning of
the Plan Year.
Life
Insurance and Disability – The Firm pays the
premiums for a $50,000 Group Term Life Insurance policy and Short Term
Disability policy.
Vacation
– Our vacation time is structured to reward our full-time
employees as their length of service grows. Employees earn vacation as
follows:

First twelve months of service earns forty hours.
- Second
year through six years of service earns eighty hours per year.
- After
seven years of service, eight hours is added each year until maxing at
120 hours per year.
Personal
Time Off – Each full-time employee is allowed
forty hours off with pay each calendar year. Partial year employees
will have their benefit prorated. Personal time off may be used for
illness, doctors visits, funerals, etc.
Holidays
– The Firm observes the following holidays (76 hours):

Friday after Mar 16th – 4 hours
- April
16th – 8 hours
- Memorial
Day – 8 hours
- Independence
Day – 8 hours
- Labor
Day – 8 hours
- Thanksgiving
– 16 hours
